Trapezoidal Sheet Preliminary Check

Single-span sheet check using manufacturer/user effective section properties, design resistance and service deflection.

EN 1993-1-3 contextManufacturer propertiesSingle span

Scope & assumptions

Simply supported single span; line loads act on a 1 m wide strip. Effective W and I and shear resistance must come from the manufacturer or a verified section calculation.

Calculation basis

MEd = qd·L²/8; VEd = qd·L/2; MRd = Weff·fy/γM; w = 5·qser·L⁴/(384·E·Ieff). Shear utilization uses the entered manufacturer VRd.
Important engineering note: Cold-formed sheeting resistance can be governed by local/distortional buckling, support reaction, web crippling, fasteners, diaphragm action and load direction. Use manufacturer design tables or a complete EN 1993-1-3 / applicable-code check for final design.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a complete code design?

No. It is a transparent preliminary calculation. Code-specific limits, detailing, stability and project conditions must be verified independently.

Can I use the result for construction?

Use the result as a screening or checking aid only. Final design and construction documents should be verified by a qualified professional where required.

Why are some resistance factors entered by the user?

Many design standards contain member-, material-, product- or project-specific values. Metric Republic keeps these visible and user-controlled instead of hiding assumptions.
