CSA S304:24 Masonry Wall Stress Organizer

Axial-plus-bending wall stress organizer with user-verified masonry compression and tension resistance limits.

CSA S304:24Errata 2025Masonry

Scope & assumptions

Linear-elastic rectangular wall-strip stress calculation. It organizes demand only; CSA masonry resistance and slenderness provisions remain user-verified inputs/checks.

Calculation basis

A = b·t; W = b·t²/6; σN = N/A; σM = M/W; σmax = σN + |σM|; σmin = σN − |σM|.
Important engineering note: CSA S304:24 includes reinforced/unreinforced wall provisions, effective width, slenderness, second-order effects, cracking, shear, bearing, seismic design and detailing. This tool does not replace those clauses.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a complete code design?

No. It is a transparent preliminary calculation. Code-specific limits, detailing, stability and project conditions must be verified independently.

Can I use the result for construction?

Use the result as a screening or checking aid only. Final design and construction documents should be verified by a qualified professional where required.

Why are some resistance factors entered by the user?

Many design standards contain member-, material-, product- or project-specific values. Metric Republic keeps these visible and user-controlled instead of hiding assumptions.
